HTS:
The Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States is the
primary resource for determining tariff classifications for
goods imported into the United States. The Harmonized Tariff
Schedule is based on the international Harmonized Commodity
Coding and Classification System (Harmonized System), which
has been established by the World Customs Organization. Virtually
all countries base their tariff schedules on the Harmonized
System, making it easier to conduct international trade.
CPV:
CPV (Common Procurement Vocabulary) numbers have been specially
developed by the European Union for public procurement. Their
main purpose is to help procurement personnel to classify
their contract notices consistently and correctly and to help
suppliers find the notices which are of interest by using
a standardized vocabulary.
NIGP:
The NIGP Commodity Code offers an excellent coding structure
for standardizing purchasing. It is a natural fit with data
warehousing and decision support reporting. The NIGP Commodity
Services Code was developed by the National Institute of Governmental
purchasing to bring efficiency to automated purchasing. Since
1983 the NIGP Code has been adopted by more than 1,400 government
users and continues to grow. The Code has experienced remarkable
growth, primarily due to user input.
VMRS:
VMRS stands for Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standards. These
standards were established in 1970 as a universal language
for fleets to develop a uniform record-keeping practice for
equipment maintenance. VMRS Codes are endorsed by the TMC
(Technology and Maintenance Council) as an industry recommended
practice.
